IAM: Avoid summer drink driving
Date: 14 July 2008
As summer approaches the Institute of Advanced Motorist (IAM) is warning drivers, including couriers, of the perils of indulging in alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
Online news resource Mansized reports that accidentally drink driving still carries the same penalty, which can see motorists facing an 11 year licence endorsement.
The news provider adds that as there is no way for individuals to check whether they are over the limit, the IAM is recommending people avoid drinking all together.
It adds that driving at twice the legal limit makes people 30 times more likely to crash and having a night's sleep in between drinking and getting behind the wheel does not necessarily negate the affects of one too many.
The Oxford Mail recently reported that a fifth of drivers were caught drink driving during a summer crackdown by local police.
Some 980 drivers in the region were arrested in June for being over the legal limit.
You too can make the headlines with bigger and better courier contracts, find out how!
