Telford 'UK's most car-friendly city'
Date: 23 June 2008
Telford is the most car-friendly city in the UK, it has emerged.
Research from Virgin Money Car Insurance revealed that the West Midlands city was ranked the best place to drive, based on the cost of petrol, price of parking, number of speed cameras and level of car crime.
This could be good news for people providing a courier service in the region.
Other cities which scored highly include last year's winner Dundee, Newcastle, Blackpool and Sunderland.
The areas which were deemed the worst for drivers were Northampton, Cardiff, London, Birmingham and Liverpool.
Speaking about the results, Scott Mowbray of Virgin Money said: "The UK's 33 million motorists face many frustrations.
"Although no town or city is perfect, thankfully there are still some pockets of the country that are still suitable for a Sunday drive."
In related news, research from Virginia Tech Transportation Institute recently revealed that drivers, including couriers, feel more at ease behind the wheel when using a satnav system.
Some 59 per cent of those questioned claimed using a satnav device makes it easier for them to concentrate on the road.
