Falling commercial vehicle prices could benefit couriers
Date: 05 June 2008
Commercial vehicle prices are falling, which mean that small courier or delivery companies could snap up a bargain at auction, it has emerged.
According to vehicle auction company BCA, as the credit crunch impacts upon the market there are growing numbers of ex-lease, short, medium and long-wheel base vans going unsold.
Figures from the firm show that fleet and lease vans recorded several months of price drops before rallying slightly in April.
However, prices continued to fall for vehicles in the nearly-new and part-exchange sectors.
Duncan Ward, BCA's UK business development manager, adds: "This means there is a great opportunity for small and mediumhyphensized businesses to get a good deal at auction if they are looking to upgrade their commercial fleet."
This follows news that UK van makers will have to soon have to publish the carbon dioxide emission of their vehicles so that drivers, including those providing courier services, can make an informed choice about which van to purchase.
