Wireless technology could help couriers avoid collisions
Date: 21 May 2008
An expert has claimed that wireless technology could soon help drivers, including those providing courier services, avoid collisions in the future.
Thinkbroadband.com claims that once cars and vans have "a basic form of interactive wireless connectivity", drivers will be able to use satnav systems to update information.
Andrew Ferguson, editor of the site, adds that couriers and other drivers will be able to use this data to avoid traffic jams, as the system will detect the volume of vehicles travelling on certain roads and navigate an alterative route.
He also states that drivers looking to spruce up their cars or vans may be pleased to hear that as wireless technology develops, in-car entertainment systems could sync up with household media servers.
This follows news that a new satnav system has been developed specifically for van drivers and couriers by Navevo.
ProNav features dynamic routing and navigation optimisation based on vehicles' specific dimensions, to help avoid incidents such as driving down too narrow roads or bridges with weight restrictions.
You too can make the headlines with bigger and better courier contracts, find out how!
