Tyre safety body aims to prevent van accidents
Date: 14 May 2008
A new industry body is aiming to increase the standard and safety qualities of tyres in a move which could widely benefit commercial drivers such as couriers.
TyreSafe is to take up the tyre safety campaign from the Tyre Industry Council and will encourage drivers to pay more attention to wear and tear and quality.
Courier service providers could save money and up safety standards by heeding the advice of the new organisation, which is hoping to better grab media attention.
The group hopes to address the "issues of corporate responsibility and duty of care legislation as they relate to tyres and their use".
Latest advice from the group which could benefit a courier making regular stops has included tips on avoiding mounting kerbs which can cause early removals of tyres.
Tyresafe is also involved in Tyre Safety Month, set to appear in October, and is also targeting bike tyre safety besides four-wheeled vehicles.
The group recently handed out 200 airline valve extensions and pressure gauges as part of a scheme aimed at motorcycle riders.
You too can make the headlines with bigger and better courier contracts, find out how!
