Courierology exposes courier scamsPopular

Date: 09 August 2007

A number of courier scams have been exposed by the website Courierology, part of the Courier Freeway Alliance.

The site notes that Jobs for Drivers (www.jobs-for-drivers.co.uk) is looking for self-employed drivers for £21.75 an hour. However, they are required to pay for checks to complete your reference.

Jobs for Drivers suggest that couriers use a 'referencing agency' called CRS, where it will cost £49.65 to do the necessary checks. Couriers can choose to use an alternative service, however.

CRV Couriers (www.crvcouriers.com) is also running a scam, Courierology says.

This company promises earnings of £250 per day for those who buy a manual. It claims to have a fully-staffed office in London, but this is actually just a mail box at Mail Boxes etc.

Other companies to look out for are Logistic Link and Central Courier Company, the website claims.

The JFD story has been picked up by the Daily Mirror (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/investigates/2007/08/23/drive-these-net-cheats-off-road-89520-19675333/) and they have established the scam is being run by Patrick Quinn, who also ran the Pathway scam a couple of years ago.
