When was you're your company started and by whom?
  In 2003 David decided to leave employment as a Class 1 driver for a National food distribution Company and "have a go" at setting up their own Courier Company. Horner Couriers joined the exchange as an owner driver in April 2003.

How did you develop from an owner driver to a company?
David soon began to keep himself busy establishing a good working relationship with many Courier Company's but found that most of his work came from just a handful of clients. After 18 months as an owner driver David decided it was time to start getting some of his own Customers, we targeted our local area (Wolverhampton) and slowly built up a Customer base. Dawn came from a Post Office management background has adapted her skills in developing Horner Couriers. We worked at home for a couple of years, in 2005 we realised we had to take the next step to service our Customers and moved into a 2,000 sq ft unit in Walsall.

We worked every hour possible and it was very tough initially with our costs going through the roof as compared to working from home, but we persevered and have come out the other side.

Where are you based and what geographical area do you focus on?
Located in Walsall, 2 minutes off junction 10/ M6 with easy acsess to M6 North/South, M54, M5, and M6 toll

What makes your business Successful?
Hard work, dedication, and 100% customer service, we are also very proud of our Office; Staff and drivers who are very committed to our business. We are a relatively small company and all pull together. We specialise in dedicated Same Day as we feel that we cannot compete with large overnight Companies.

How has Courier exchange benefited your business?
We have been a member now for 6 years and the Courier exchange is an invaluable
tool, we have gained many friends and work contacts. The Christmas party's are great networking events were we have got to know many Companies over the years and have strong trading links with many members.

Has your business diversified as it has expanded?
Yes, although Same Day Courier is still our main trade we have gained a contract fitting and installing office rotary systems which is a specialised field. Initially we delivered the office furniture and a team of fitters installed them but they were so impressed with our level of commitment to service they offered us the chance to train a team of fitters and install and deliver. This turned out to be very successful and we
now have four Staff full time working on this contract, which offers a full service from delivery to installation, this is expanding at a steady rate.
